Booking, cancelling and the day itself

This site compares tours and takes no bookings of its own. Every card and every button opens the operator's own listing on the booking platform that sells it, and the whole transaction happens there: you pick the date, you pay, and the platform issues the voucher with the meeting instructions on it. Nothing is held, charged or confirmed here. That also means the listing, not this page, is the authority on price, availability and terms at the moment you book.

Every one of the nine tours here offers free cancellation, but the window is not uniform. Eight of them cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time. The Volunteer Point king penguin day needs 3 days, which is the longest notice in the lineup and reflects how far ahead those 4x4s and drivers are committed. Cancel inside the window and the listing's own terms apply, so read them on the booking page before you commit to a date.

They are from-prices read off each live listing and checked twice, which makes them a reliable floor rather than a quote. What you actually pay moves with the date, the group size, the option you select and the country you book from, and listings localise currency. Treat the number here as the comparison figure and the listing as the authority. Because two of the nine are private hires. The $413 Bertha's Beach day and the $569 Penguin Paradise day buy the whole vehicle with your guide in it and nobody else, so the figure varies with group size and splits across everyone aboard. The other seven are per-person fares on a shared or small-group departure. A group of four reading a per-vehicle price as a per-person one will rule out the tour that was actually cheapest for them, which is why the basis is printed on every card here.

Almost everything starts at the jetty. Tenders land at the public jetty in Stanley harbour, and the Jetty Visitor Centre, the Tender Landing Stage and the Falkland Islands Tourist Board office all sit within a few steps of it. Operators wait there with a sign, and your voucher names the exact spot. The private days are the exception: they can collect land-based visitors from accommodation instead, and the shared minibus tours meet the tenders as they arrive.

Both are real risks here and both are handled on the listing rather than by us. Sea state can stop a tender run outright, and wind or rain can close the off-road track out to Volunteer Point. Operators reschedule or refund under their own published terms, and the free-cancellation window is your practical protection when a call looks doubtful. Colonies can also close at short notice: avian influenza was confirmed in gentoos in August 2025 and operators reroute to open sites when it is detected.

Smaller than most cruise passengers expect. Volunteer Point runs a maximum of 4 travellers per 4x4, the one-hour gentoo run caps at 12, and the two shared minibus excursions cap at 15 and 16. The three private days carry only your own group, at whatever size you book. Two listings describe themselves as small group without publishing a number, so this site leaves that figure blank rather than estimating it.

The prices on this site are the listings' US dollar from-prices, which is what they resolved to when they were read. The booking platform will show and charge in the currency it localises to for you, so the total on the checkout page is the number that matters, and your bank may add its own conversion on top. This is also the usual explanation when a price looks different in two places: it is currency, not an operator raising its fee.

The confirmation email, every time. It carries your reference, the meeting instructions and a message channel that reaches the operator and the platform that took your money. We cannot see your booking, change a date, add a passenger or issue a refund, because none of it runs through us. On a same-day question, with a ship's clock running, that confirmation is the only channel that can actually do something.

No, they are the nine that cleared checking: real, currently bookable, with published dates, an unambiguous price basis and figures that survived two independent verification passes. Cruise lines sell their own shore excursions through the ship, some operators take walk-ups when they have space, and inter-island trips run on FIGAS flights that are booked separately.
