How We Compare Falkland Islands Tours
Nine tours leave Stanley for penguins, battlefields and the coastline beyond town, sold by eight operators across two platforms. This page explains what is compared, what each figure means, and what this site will not do.
What This Site Is And Who It Is For
Falkland Islands Tours is an independent comparison site. It runs no tours, holds no seats and takes no bookings; every booking happens on the operator's Viator or GetYourGuide listing. Some outgoing links are affiliate links, the platform pays a share of its own commission, and the traveler pays no extra.
Most readers arrive on a cruise ship with a fixed number of hours ashore. Larger ships anchor and tender to the public jetty in Stanley, and the tender clock shapes everything: a one-hour Gentoo Colony Express run and a 6 hours 20 minutes day at Volunteer Point both start from the same pontoon. The rest are land-based visitors, staying in Stanley and free of the ship's re-boarding time. The comparison serves both, and says which tours suit which.
The season runs roughly October or November to March or April. The 2025-26 season was forecast at 53 vessels and about 140 calls across Stanley and the outer islands, with about 72,500 passengers. Vehicles are finite, so the practical advice in the guides tends toward booking early rather than browsing late.
How The Nine Tours Are Compared
Five things carry most of the weight in every comparison, and all five are visible on the platform listings.
| Criterion | What Is Compared And Where It Comes From |
|---|---|
| Price Basis | Seven tours are priced per person, from the $40 Gentoo Express upward. Bertha's Beach & Beyond at $413 and Private Penguin Paradise at $569 are per group or vehicle and vary by size, while the Eco Nature day at $419.92 is listed per person despite being private. Every price is quoted with its basis, and the per-vehicle ones are shown split where it helps: $413 across four people is about $103 a head. |
| Ratings And Review Counts | Platform figures only. Volunteer Point holds 4.8 across 223 reviews, the shared sightseeing run 4.7 across 143 with a Badge of Excellence, Bertha's Beach & Beyond 4.9 across 80, Private Penguin Paradise 4.8 across 42, the Express 4.8 across 27. The Eco Nature day shows 5.0 across 9, the JT Tours loop 5.0 across 2, the GYG Bertha's day 5.0 across 1, and the Goose Green battlefield tour has no reviews yet. |
| Durations And Meeting Points | Duration is the listing's own span, from one hour to 6 hours 20 minutes, and meeting instructions are quoted from the listing: the Jetty Visitor Centre for most, the Tender Landing Stage for TravelFalklands, pickup at Lookout Lodge, the Tourist Board or Malvina House Hotel for Goose Green, and accommodation collection on the Bertha's Beach & Beyond private day. Where a listing gives internal timings, like 2 hours at Volunteer Point or 35 minutes at the gentoo colony, those are shown too. |
| Season Entry And Port Facts | Port procedures, entry rules and season figures come from the Falkland Islands Government, the FCDO and Tourist Board material, never from operators. That includes the one-tender-at-a-time guidance on the public jetty, the cruise schedule published on the Tourist Board site, and closures such as the avian influenza notices that saw confirmed cases in gentoo penguins from August 2025 onward. |
| Cancellation And Group Size | Every tour here cancels free. Eight allow it up to 24 hours before; the Volunteer Point day needs three days' notice, which matters on a short port calendar. Group size spans shared minibuses at 15 and 16 travelers, the Express at 12, small groups on the GetYourGuide days, 4 seats per 4x4 at Volunteer Point, and fully private days with only your group. Each tour page states which. |
The comparisons sit alongside the practical guides: cruise shore excursions, penguin tours, Volunteer Point and battlefield tours among them.
Three Things This Site Will Not Do
How This Site Is Paid For
Affiliate commission, and only that. When a reader books through a link, Viator or GetYourGuide pays this site a share of its own commission. The reader pays the same price as booking direct. Nobody pays to be listed or to sit higher on a page. The full detail sits on the disclosure page.
Nothing else on the site earns anything. There is no display advertising and no sponsored post, and the embedded videos belong to their uploaders.

Worth writing about: a price that moved since it was last shown here, a listing that vanished or quietly changed its inclusions, a factual error in a guide or tour page, a Stanley tour that is missing from the nine and has a real bookable listing, or a question the FAQ does not answer. The shorter and more specific the note, the more useful it is; a link to the listing in question beats a description of it.

What this site cannot help with: it cannot take a booking, hold a seat, move a date or issue a refund. If something has gone wrong on the day, the confirmation email from the platform and the operator's message button on the listing are the fastest route to a human who can act.
What to expect: corrections are checked against the listing before a page changes, so a fix may not appear instantly. There is no newsletter to be added to, and your address is not passed on to anyone. See the tour categories for the current nine.
